    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                            Mike M. Perrone
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Bryan in mourning the loss of Mike M. Perrone who died
    1-7  tragically in an automobile accident three miles from his home on
    1-8  January 14, 1992; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A lifetime resident of Brazos County,
   1-10  Mike Perrone was born in Steele's Store on February 8, 1922,
   1-11  to Johanna Depuma Perrone and John M. Perrone, Sr.; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Mike Perrone was married to Mary G. Restivo on
   1-13  January 19, 1947, and together they  built their first home in
   1-14  Steele's Store; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Mr. Perrone was a well-known, highly respected,
   1-16  and successful cotton farmer, rancher, and businessman; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, While an active member of the Future Farmers of
   1-18  America, he was awarded the American Farmer Award in 1939; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Patriotic and a leader in the community,
   1-20  Mike Perrone served as a Technical Sergeant in the United States
   1-21  Army Air Corps in the Pacific during World War II, and he was a
   1-22  member of the American Legion Post Number 159 and Veterans of
   1-23  Foreign Wars Post Number 4692; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, He attended Texas A&M University and
    2-2  The University of Texas, and his appreciation of education
    2-3  inspired him to send all of his children to college; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, A man of integrity and generosity, he gave
    2-5  unselfishly of his time to others, and his life brought unity
    2-6  to those who knew him; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, Mike Perrone had a vibrant personality and a
    2-8  contagious smile, and throughout his life he was a source of
    2-9  strength to many; and
   2-10        WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, he was a member of the
   2-11  Monsignor Gleissner Council of the Knights of Columbus Number
   2-12  1834 and Ministry of Praise at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church;
   2-13  and
   2-14        WHEREAS, His wisdom, warm spirit, and valued counsel
   2-15  will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
   2-16        WHEREAS, Mike Perrone was a devoted husband, father, and
   2-17  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be forever
   2-18  treasured by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
   2-19        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-20  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
   2-21  family of Mike M. Perrone:  his wife, Mary Restivo Perrone; his sons,
   2-22  Mike M. Perrone III, Andy Perrone, and Tommy Perrone; his daughters,
   2-23  Dianna Cook, Niky Mauro, Marilyn Bowen, and Judy McCrady; and his
   2-24  15 grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-25        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    3-1  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
    3-2  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
    3-3  it do so in memory of Mike M. Perrone.
