No. 122 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is privileged 1-3 to honor the unique cultural legacy left to the State of Texas 1-4 by early German settlers and to appreciate every opportunity to 1-5 preserve this precious heritage; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Music lightened the hearts of early settlers and 1-7 singing was especially dear to these early German residents; and 1-8 WHEREAS, On May 16, 1993, the Austin Saengerrunde will 1-9 celebrate its 114th anniversary by hosting the 47th annual 1-10 Saengertag of the Deutsch-Texanischer Saengerbund, which is 1-11 a gathering of German choirs from throughout the state; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Over 400 singers from across the state will 1-13 gather together to celebrate their German heritage; and 1-14 WHEREAS, This event presents a perfect occasion for 1-15 legislative recognition of the unique contribution of the 1-16 Saengerbund to preserving history as a living, vital force 1-17 in today's Texas; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-19 73rd Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the Austin 1-20 Saengerrunde on its 114th anniversary; and, be it further 1-21 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be 1-22 prepared for the members of the Austin Saengerrunde as an 1-23 expression of great esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-1 _____________________________________ 2-2 President of the Senate 2-3 I hereby certify that the 2-4 above Resolution was adopted by 2-5 the Senate on February 1, 1993. 2-6 _____________________________________ 2-7 Secretary of the Senate 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 Member, Texas Senate
