    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is privileged
    1-3  to commend Raul Contreras for his superb sports accomplishments;
    1-4  and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Raul's self-discipline, dedication, and
    1-6  outstanding abilities have brought him well-deserved recognition;
    1-7  and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Brownsville,
    1-9  Mr. Contreras realized a long-held ambition on January 13, 1993,
   1-10  when he bowled games of 247, 257, and 297, making an 801 series
   1-11  scratch; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Since he is a left-handed bowler, Raul's
   1-13  achievement is all the more remarkable; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Maintaining an average of 199, Mr. Contreras
   1-15  was delighted with his performance and enjoys regaling fellow
   1-16  competitors with the details of his moment of glory; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Raul's 801 series is the first ever bowled
   1-18  at Brownsville Bowling Center; his devotion to this sport is
   1-19  legendary; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, An ardent bowler since childhood, Raul now bowls
   1-21  three times a week; he is a member of the highly competitive
   1-22  Men's Bowling League at Brownsville Bowling Center where he
   1-23  strikes fear into the hearts of his opponents; now, therefore,
    2-1  be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  73rd Legislature, hereby congratulate Raul Contreras on his
    2-4  noteworthy accomplishment of bowling an 801 series scratch; and,
    2-5  be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-7  Raul Contreras as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
