1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 In Memory
1-3 of
1-4 Charles Eugene Brown II
1-5 WHEREAS, The passing of Charles Eugene Brown II of Lubbock,
1-6 who died January 7, 1993, at the age of 64, was greatly mourned by
1-7 his fellow residents; and
1-8 WHEREAS, He will be remembered by those who knew him for
1-9 his devotion to his family, his church, and his profession; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Born in Paris, Texas, Mr. Brown had lived in Lubbock
1-11 since 1941 where he was active in community affairs; and
1-12 WHEREAS, He attended Dunbar High School and graduated from
1-13 Prairie View A&M University with both a bachelor's degree and a
1-14 master's degree; and
1-15 WHEREAS, A dedicated and diligent educator, Mr. Brown ably
1-16 served the Lubbock public schools for 35 years; he also worked for
1-17 the Slaton Independent School District for two years; and
1-18 WHEREAS, A faithful Christian, Mr. Brown was an active
1-19 member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church where he served as an
1-20 usher; interested in helping others, he donated his time to
1-21 Catholic Family Services; and
1-22 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was a member of several civic and
1-23 professional organizations including Hub City Kiwanis, Texas State
2-1 Teachers Association, and the National Education Association; and
2-2 WHEREAS, His wise counsel and good judgment will be greatly
2-3 missed and remembered with gratitude by those who knew him; now,
2-4 therefore, be it
2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-6 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to his
2-7 bereaved family: his wife, Thelma; his sons, Charles and Marcus;
2-8 and his daughter, Evelyn D. Stroud; and, be it further
2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-10 the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
2-11 the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
2-12 so in memory of Charles Eugene Brown II.
