    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is delighted to
    1-3  congratulate the Gee family members who are joyously celebrating
    1-4  the Chinese New Year; this illustrious family plans to observe
    1-5  the Chinese New Year by celebrating the Year of the Rooster on
    1-6  February 5, 1993; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, A united family manifests the love they hold for
    1-8  one another and their ancestors; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Recognizing one's roots and working to hold on to
   1-10  family ties bonds a family over many generations; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Traditional moral values are inherent in families
   1-12  with industrious, productive members of society; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The Gee family is renowned as a hardworking and
   1-14  strong family unit; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The members of the Gee family will attend the
   1-16  happy celebration to rekindle bonds of lasting devotion to one
   1-17  another; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas is also pleased to recognize
   1-19  and honor Dr. Martha J. Wong, who is being honored at these annual
   1-20  family festivities; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Dr. Wong is presently Director of Staff and
   1-22  Instructional Services for the Houston Community College System; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, A distinguished educator and an outstanding Texan,
    2-1  she has won many awards and garnered countless honors for herself
    2-2  in the course of her noteworthy career; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Named Woman of the Year in Education, Dr. Wong
    2-4  has also recently been Vice President of the Board of Directors
    2-5  of Vocational Guidance Service, Incorporated, as well as being a
    2-6  founder and Board Chair of the Asian American Coalition; she is
    2-7  truly an eminent member of the Gee family; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the Gee family and its special
   2-10  honoree this year, Dr. Martha Jee Wong, on their annual
   2-11  festivities, the Chinese New Year honoring the Year of the Rooster;
   2-12  and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
   2-14  for the venerable Gee family as an expression of the esteem of
   2-15  the Texas Senate.
