No. 149 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the 1-3 students and faculty of Hitchcock High School in recognizing 1-4 the many contributions of African-Americans throughout the history 1-5 of our nation; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The school has organized a Black History Program 1-7 to celebrate with citizens across the country in recognition of 1-8 February, 1993, as Black History Month; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Through its program, Hitchcock High School 1-10 commemorates the heritage of African-Americans and pays tribute 1-11 to an ethnic group whose members have contributed in countless ways 1-12 to our country's enrichment; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The outstanding accomplishments of individuals from 1-14 black cultures are legendary; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Black History Month provides an opportunity for all 1-16 to express appreciation for the work of the many talented black 1-17 leaders who have inspired Americans to reaffirm their commitment 1-18 to equal justice and opportunity for all; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-20 73rd Legislature, hereby laud Hitchcock High School for 1-21 its observance of Black History Month and extend best wishes to 1-22 the students and faculty for success in their many worthy educational 1-23 endeavors; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-2 Hitchcock High School as an expression of regard from the 2-3 Texas Senate. 2-4 _____________________________________ 2-5 President of the Senate 2-6 I hereby certify that the 2-7 above Resolution was adopted by 2-8 the Senate on February 8, 1993. 2-9 _____________________________________ 2-10 Secretary of the Senate 2-11 _____________________________________ 2-12 Member, Texas Senate
