    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                       Dr. Douglas Morgan Dennis
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  family and many friends of Dr. Douglas Morgan Dennis of Goldthwaite
    1-7  in mourning the loss of this distinguished citizen and community
    1-8  leader who died on January 21, 1993; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Douglas Morgan Dennis was born on February 1, 1934,
   1-10  in Dimmitt to Morgan and Geneva Dennis; he and Mona Burts were
   1-11  married on September 7, 1958, in Channelview, Texas; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Dr. Dennis attended Dimmitt public schools; he
   1-13  was quarterback for his high school football team as well as a
   1-14  member of his school's championship basketball team in his senior
   1-15  year; in addition, he was valedictorian of the 1952 graduating
   1-16  class at Dimmitt High School; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Douglas Dennis graduated cum laude from
   1-18  Baylor University in 1956 with a bachelor of science degree
   1-19  in psychology; he graduated with honors from the Baylor University
   1-20  School of Medicine in Houston in 1960; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Dr. Dennis began his practice of medicine in
   1-22  Wichita Falls before moving to Goldthwaite in 1970; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, This respected doctor's varied and notable
    2-1  accomplishments contributed to the wealth and progress of his
    2-2  community; he was a member of the Goldthwaite Independent School
    2-3  District Board of Trustees for six years, serving as president and
    2-4  vice-president; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, He was an active supporter of the athletic program
    2-6  and contributed countless hours of community service supporting
    2-7  local programs; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, A man of great ability and unquestioned integrity,
    2-9  Dr. Dennis will be remembered forever in the hearts of those with
   2-10  whom he worked and lived; he will be greatly missed; now, therefore,
   2-11  be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
   2-14  of his family:  his wife, Mona; his sons, Captain Brent Dennis and
   2-15  Lieutenant Eric Dennis; his mother, Geneva Alice Dennis; his brother,
   2-16  Edgar M. Dennis; and his sister, Decimae Dennis; and, be
   2-17  it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-19  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-20  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
   2-21  memory of Dr. Douglas Morgan Dennis.
