    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                             David Roberts
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Pflugerville in mourning the loss of David Roberts who
    1-7  died tragically in a car accident at the age of 44 on January 23,
    1-8  1993; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, David Roberts was dedicated to his work as a media
   1-10  director at the General Land Office where he was beloved and
   1-11  respected by his colleagues; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, A talented writer and former newspaperman,
   1-13  Dave Roberts was a copy editor for the Austin American-Statesman
   1-14  during the early 1980s and was a free-lance writer and an editor of
   1-15  the Pflugerville Pflag until 1988; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A knowledgeable hunter and outdoors enthusiast,
   1-17  Mr. Roberts was an energetic and active individual who was well
   1-18  known throughout the Pflugerville community; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Involved with civic causes, Mr. Roberts was active
   1-20  in the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce and coached girls Little
   1-21  League softball; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
   1-23  gave unselfishly of his time to others; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, He was an exemplary gentleman whose intelligence,
    2-2  warmth, and wit will be greatly missed by all who knew him; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, David Roberts was a devoted husband and father, and
    2-4  he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
    2-5  family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to his wife,
    2-8  Joy Roberts, and his daughter, Casey Roberts; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-10  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-11  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-12  in memory of David Roberts.
