No. 242 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great 1-3 pleasure in congratulating Officer Leroy Conerway of the Bryan 1-4 Police Department who was awarded the Officer of the Year award; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, Praised by his supervisors, Officer Conerway proudly 1-7 received an engraved plaque from Bryan Police Chief Charles W. Phelps 1-8 in a recent ceremony; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Officer Conerway served as a military policeman in 1-10 the United States Air Force from 1962 through 1966; after his 1-11 honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm and was a farmer 1-12 until joining the department in 1976; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Officer Conerway's enthusiasm and hard work were 1-14 cited as the reasons for his selection for this momentous honor; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, The 53-year-old officer is one of those courageous 1-17 men who risk their lives every day to protect the homes, 1-18 neighborhoods, and communities of our citizens; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Dedicated to stopping the rising crime rate in 1-20 Texas, Officer Conerway has made a prodigious effort to attain 1-21 his goal; and 1-22 WHEREAS, His splendid record in the line of duty has 1-23 resulted in the solving of many crimes in the city; this exemplary 2-1 law enforcement officer is truly deserving of the honor bestowed on 2-2 him; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 73rd Legislature, hereby commend and applaud Officer Leroy Conerway 2-5 for being selected as Officer of the Year of the Bryan Police 2-6 Department; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-8 Officer Conerway as a token of respect and gratitude from the 2-9 Texas Senate. 2-10 _____________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the 2-13 above Resolution was adopted by 2-14 the Senate on February 16, 1993. 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 _____________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
