No. 253 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Mark Henry of Silsbee, Texas, for his outstanding 1-4 performance as a weightlifter in the 1992 Olympic Games; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mark is the heaviest weightlifter ever to compete 1-6 in the Olympics and has only been in training for two years, yet 1-7 he made his way to the top 10, finishing 10th with 832 pounds and 1-8 tying his personal best; and 1-9 WHEREAS, During his training and in the Olympic competition, 1-10 Mark Henry demonstrated a fierce determination to succeed, and he 1-11 now intends to truly become a medal prospect in the days ahead; 1-12 and 1-13 WHEREAS, Dedicated and self-disciplined, Mark Henry deserves 1-14 recognition for his hard work and perseverance, and he has brought 1-15 honor to his community and to the State of Texas; now, therefore, 1-16 be it 1-17 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-18 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Mark Henry on his superior 1-19 efforts and on earning a 10th-place finish in the Olympic 1-20 super-heavyweight class; and, be it further 1-21 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 1-22 him as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate. 1-23 _____________________________________ 2-1 President of the Senate 2-2 I hereby certify that the 2-3 above Resolution was adopted by 2-4 the Senate on February 17, 1993. 2-5 _____________________________________ 2-6 Secretary of the Senate 2-7 _____________________________________ 2-8 Member, Texas Senate
