    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly
    1-3  recognizes Reverend H. J. Johnson for his many years of loyal
    1-4  service in the ministry; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson is the pastor of Cathedral of
    1-6  Faith Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, and has served as pastor
    1-7  of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, Texas, and Mount Olive
    1-8  Baptist Church and Market Street Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas;
    1-9  and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Respected for his extensive involvement in religious
   1-11  organizations, Reverend Johnson is a member of the Greater Dallas
   1-12  Ministerial Alliance, Vice-President of the Sunday School Congress
   1-13  of the North Texas District Association, and Coordinator of the
   1-14  Missionary Baptist Convention of America; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, A leader in his community, he has been active in
   1-16  numerous civic projects and has served as a member of the Task Force
   1-17  for "Together Dallas," the Governor's Committee for United Texas,
   1-18  and the Task Force for Child Support of the Office of the
   1-19  Attorney General of Texas; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Over the years, Reverend Johnson has ministered
   1-21  faithfully to the needs of innumerable Christians; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Under Reverend Johnson's outstanding leadership,
   1-23  the churches he has pastored have provided enlightenment, hope,
    2-1  and support within their communities; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Since becoming pastor of Cathedral of Faith
    2-3  Baptist Church, this inspirational and caring pastor has dedicated
    2-4  his time and energy unselfishly to the members of his church and
    2-5  the residents of Dallas County; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion,
    2-7  Reverend Johnson has performed countless ceremonies and has prayed
    2-8  for and counselled his church members during their hardships and
    2-9  in times of bereavement; and
   2-10        WHEREAS, Citizens across the state are grateful for the
   2-11  positive influence Reverend Johnson has had in their lives; now,
   2-12  therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-14  73rd Legislature, hereby join with the members of Cathedral of
   2-15  Faith Baptist Church in commending Reverend H. J. Johnson for his
   2-16  fervent service to the members of the Baptist faith and the
   2-17  community; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-19  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
