    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize the North Garland High School Varsity Cheerleaders and
    1-4  Junior Varsity Cheerleaders for winning the National Cheerleader
    1-5  Association Championship December 29, 1992; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The two talented squads competed against more
    1-7  than 7,000 high school cheerleaders representing 558 squads from
    1-8  39 states; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, It was the fourth consecutive National Cheerleader
   1-10  Association win for the varsity and the second consecutive win for
   1-11  the junior varsity; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance and hard work throughout the
   1-13  year, the cheerleaders, their sponsors, and their choreographers
   1-14  deserve to be proud of their efforts and outstanding performance; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The varsity squad has been sponsored for the past
   1-16  five years by Laurel Dingrando and the junior varsity has been
   1-17  sponsored for the past two years by Vicki Tapp; the choreographers
   1-18  for the victorious squads were Bobby Detrick and Stacey Keathley;
   1-19  and
   1-20        WHEREAS, The cheerleaders devoted time and energy to
   1-21  practicing their routines and to physical conditioning regimens,
   1-22  and their disciplined schedules were highly rewarded; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Winning the National Cheerleader Association
    2-1  Championship is a tribute to the exceptional skills and the loyal
    2-2  enthusiasm that each of the cheerleaders consistently displayed
    2-3  throughout the season; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, Cheerleading on the varsity squad were Amy Bereuter,
    2-5  Stacey Buchanan, Mitzi Burrow, Christy Callaway, Mindy Hesse,
    2-6  Jennifer James, Stacy Johnson, Stefani Pitcock, Shummie Thompson,
    2-7  Julie Wilson, Younus Baiani, Brian Cawthon, David Griffin,
    2-8  Josh Hackett, Heath House, Greg Michniak, Jon Thomas, Tyson Thomas,
    2-9  Victor Togunde, and Trey Woolston; cheerleading for the junior
   2-10  varsity squad were Erica Brown, Paige Dickens, Jessica James,
   2-11  Heather King, Jocelyn Like, Lisa R. Millican, Stephanie Shockley,
   2-12  Adrian Signater, Kim Abernathy, Wendy Clark, Janea Eubanks,
   2-13  Nicole Francone, Kerry Gergel, Jill Glancy, Misty Mahaffey,
   2-14  Kori Reed, Betsy Smith, and Kelly Walston; now, therefore, be it
   2-15        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-16  73rd Legislature, hereby join with the staff and students of
   2-17  North Garland High School in commending the cheerleading squads on
   2-18  their splendid season and in extending congratulations to them for
   2-19  winning the National Cheerleader Association Championship; and,
   2-20  be it further
   2-21        RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-22  the cheerleaders as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate.
