No. 261 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The rich cultural heritage we enjoy as Texans is 1-3 a multihued tapestry created from the contributions of the many 1-4 diverse ethnic groups that settled in our great state, and like 1-5 Texans everywhere, the various communities of San Antonio take great 1-6 pride in celebrating their city's centuries-old multicultural legacy 1-7 with numerous communitywide exhibits and festivals throughout the 1-8 year; and 1-9 WHEREAS, On March 6, 1993, residents in the Harlandale 1-10 Independent School District of San Antonio once again will have a 1-11 special opportunity to share the community's legacy of cultural and 1-12 artistic contributions with their fellow San Antonians and Texans by 1-13 hosting the 18th Annual Cultural Arts Exhibit at the historic 1-14 Mission San Jose; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The culmination of the local observance of Texas 1-16 Public School Week, the featured exhibit, titled "Huellas 1-17 Multiculturales--Multicultural Footprints," will celebrate the 1-18 district's students' artistic achievement by presenting some of the 1-19 best examples of the quality of art work being produced by students 1-20 today; and 1-21 WHEREAS, While it justly pays tribute to the past and 1-22 commemorates the achievements of our predecessors as they are 1-23 imprinted on us today, this important community event also serves 2-1 as a preview of the future by showcasing some representatives of 2-2 the coming generation of artists who will continue to enrich our 2-3 lives by their outstanding individual talents, abilities, and 2-4 vision; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Appreciative of efforts to preserve the memory of the 2-6 past while encouraging each generation to build on its enduring 2-7 legacy with boldness and visionary spirit, the members of this 2-8 body wish to join all our fellow Texans in expressing that 2-9 appreciation with praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of The State of Texas, 2-11 73rd Legislature, hereby honor the 18th Annual Cultural Arts Exhibit 2-12 at Mission San Jose, its organizers, and all of the participants in 2-13 this exhibit whose talent and dedication to art will undoubtedly 2-14 contribute to the cultural legacy of this state for years to come; 2-15 and, be it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-17 for the organizers of this event as an expression of high esteem by 2-18 the Senate of Texas. 2-19 _____________________________________ 2-20 President of the Senate 2-21 I hereby certify that the 2-22 above Resolution was adopted by 2-23 the Senate on February 22, 1993. 2-24 _____________________________________ 2-25 Secretary of the Senate 3-1 _____________________________________ 3-2 Member, Texas Senate
