No. 271 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas is pleased to congratulate 1-3 Judi Shanklin for being named Business Leader of the Year by the 1-4 Georgetown Chamber of Commerce; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Chief executive officer of Shanklin Realtors and 1-6 Shanklin Building Company since 1981, Ms. Shanklin continually 1-7 strives to make Georgetown a better place in which to conduct 1-8 business; in so doing, she improves the quality of life for the 1-9 other residents of the community; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Ms. Shanklin earned recognition throughout Texas 1-11 when she served with great distinction as director of the Texas 1-12 Association of Realtors from 1988 through 1992; and 1-13 WHEREAS, In 1985, Ms. Shanklin was named Realtor of the Year 1-14 for Williamson County, earned the Owen W. Sherrill Award in 1987, 1-15 and was honored by the National Association of Realtors for 1991 1-16 and 1992; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Past president of the Women's Council of Realtors, 1-18 Ms. Shanklin has served the Williamson County Association of 1-19 Realtors as president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer; and 1-20 WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented, independent, and 1-21 versatile individual, Judi Shanklin has been an instructor in 1-22 mandatory continuing education and has taught at the Graduate 1-23 Realtors Institute; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Ms. Shanklin has also been creator and coordinator of 2-2 Career Day at Georgetown High School; director of the Industrial 2-3 Foundation, she has been serving the Georgetown Rotary Club as 2-4 vice-president for vocational services and will soon become 2-5 vice-president for community services; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Chair of the city's Charter Advisory Committee, she 2-7 is treasurer of the Georgetown Library Board and a trustee and 2-8 member of the Commission on Missions for the First United Methodist 2-9 Church; and 2-10 WHEREAS, The varied and worthwhile activities of this special 2-11 lady include serving as a member of the boards of Georgetown Hospital 2-12 and Georgetown Library; Georgetown is indeed fortunate to count this 2-13 woman as one of its most dedicated leaders; now, therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-15 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere best wishes to Judi Shanklin 2-16 on being named Business Leader of the Year by the Georgetown Chamber 2-17 of Commerce; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-19 Judi Shanklin as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-20 _____________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the 2-23 above Resolution was adopted by 2-24 the Senate on February 22, 1993. 2-25 _____________________________________ 3-1 Secretary of the Senate 3-2 _____________________________________ 3-3 Member, Texas Senate
