    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
    1-3  pleasure in commending the Schoenemann family, current owners
    1-4  of Gafke Farm in Bryan, Texas; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, On Friday, January 15, 1993, the Texas Department
    1-6  of Agriculture honored the Schoenemann family and Gafke Farm,
    1-7  which was founded in 1876 by Fredrick Gafke, at the Texas Family
    1-8  Land Heritage ceremony; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The ceremony was a tribute to those Texans whose
   1-10  farms and ranches have remained in their families for the last
   1-11  100 years; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Respected leaders in the community,
   1-13  members of the Gafke and Schoenemann family have made
   1-14  significant contributions to agriculture in the State of Texas
   1-15  by practicing and promoting the most advanced methods of soil and
   1-16  water conservation; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Distinguished and hardworking, they have set an
   1-18  outstanding example for other Texans to follow and have played
   1-19  a major role in the betterment of the Bryan community and
   1-20  Burleson County; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, The members of the family have received
   1-22  well-deserved acclaim for their continued efforts to preserve
   1-23  the state's natural resources and to protect the environment and
    2-1  the beauty of the land; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  73rd Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the members
    2-4  of the Schoenemann and Gafke family for their notable recognition
    2-5  by the Texas Department of Agriculture; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-7  Leroy J. Schoenemann, owner of Gafke Farm, as an expression of
    2-8  the high regard of the Texas Senate.
