    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Freestone County will sorely miss the wisdom and
    1-3  expertise of J. C. Sheffield who is retiring as a director of the
    1-4  Freestone County Soil and Water Conservation District; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, In 1971, Mr. Sheffield was appointed to fill
    1-6  an unexpired term on the board of directors, and he has been
    1-7  reelected frequently to that position and has served as secretary
    1-8  and vice-president of the board; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, During his tenure, Mr. Sheffield has taken great
   1-10  pride in publicizing conservation activities; he was instrumental
   1-11  in working to see that a special edition of the Teague Chronicle
   1-12  was published each year during Soil and Water Stewardship Week; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Recently honored for his 21 years of
   1-14  meritorious service, Mr. Sheffield began his association
   1-15  with the Freestone County Soil and Water Conservation District
   1-16  in 1943 when he signed up as a district cooperator; he has since
   1-17  implemented an outstanding conservation program on his S&S Cattle
   1-18  Ranch; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, An avid proponent of conservation procedures,
   1-20  Mr. Sheffield and his wife, Maybelle, have hosted numerous
   1-21  conservation tours on their ranch; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Few individuals have given so generously of
   1-23  their time and talents on behalf of their fellow citizens; now,
    2-1  therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  73rd Legislature, hereby commend and applaud J. C. Sheffield for
    2-4  his years of noteworthy service to the Freestone County Soil and
    2-5  Water Conservation District; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
    2-7  as an expression of gratitude from the Texas Senate.
