    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
    1-3  pleasure in commending the von Gonten family, current owners
    1-4  of von Gonten Ranch in Rockdale, Texas; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, On Friday, January 15, 1993, the Texas Department
    1-6  of Agriculture honored the von Gonten family and von Gonten Ranch,
    1-7  which was founded in 1875 by Fritz von Gonten, Sr., and
    1-8  Magdalena von Gonten, at the Texas Family Land Heritage
    1-9  ceremony; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The ceremony was a tribute to those Texans whose
   1-11  farms and ranches have remained in their families for the last
   1-12  100 years; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Respected leaders in the community, members of
   1-14  the von Gonten family have made significant contributions to
   1-15  agriculture in the State of Texas by practicing and promoting
   1-16  the most advanced methods of soil and water conservation; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Distinguished and hardworking, they have set an
   1-18  outstanding example for other Texans to follow and have played
   1-19  a major role in the betterment of the Rockdale community and
   1-20  Milam County; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, The members of the family have received
   1-22  well-deserved acclaim for their continued efforts to preserve
   1-23  the state's natural resources and to protect the environment and
    2-1  the beauty of the land; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  73rd Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the members
    2-4  of the von Gonten family for their notable recognition by the
    2-5  Texas Department of Agriculture; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-7  Roy Lee von Gonten, owner of von Gonten Ranch, as an expression
    2-8  of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
