No. 283 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize the Caldwell National Bank on the grand occasion of 1-4 its 90th anniversary; and 1-5 WHEREAS, On Friday, February 5, 1993, Caldwell National 1-6 Bank celebrated this auspicious event with the dedication of its 1-7 historical marker during a day-long celebration; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Caldwell National Bank is the first and the oldest 1-9 publicly owned financial institution in Burleson County; and 1-10 WHEREAS, On January 24, 1903, a group of local businessmen 1-11 under the direction of J. J. Lane and C. C. Nelms met for the 1-12 purpose of establishing a national bank; and 1-13 WHEREAS, On its opening on February 5, 1903, this outstanding 1-14 institution proudly advertised that it had 35 stockholders who were 1-15 among the most responsible farmers and merchants in Burleson County; 1-16 it opened with $25,000 in capital stock; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The bank also served as the depository for the 1-18 City of Caldwell as well as Burleson County; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Due to the guidance and wise stewardship of its 1-20 presidents and stockholders, this fine institution has paid a 1-21 dividend on its capital stock every year of its operation except 1-22 1932; and 1-23 WHEREAS, A stable financial force in Caldwell and in 2-1 Burleson County, the Caldwell National Bank has been a leader in 2-2 the development of the county since the turn of the century; and 2-3 WHEREAS, The bank conducts its business based on a strong 2-4 belief in honesty and a commitment to superior service; and 2-5 WHEREAS, The leaders in this savings institution consistently 2-6 strive for excellence and efficiency in all areas of operation, and 2-7 the bank's talented employees deserve to be proud of their 2-8 successful efforts to serve the public; now, therefore, be it 2-9 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-10 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Caldwell National Bank on the 2-11 glorious 90th anniversary of its founding and congratulate its 2-12 officers and employees for their illustrious contributions to the 2-13 community over the years; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-15 the bank as a memento of this august occasion from the Texas Senate. 2-16 _____________________________________ 2-17 President of the Senate 2-18 I hereby certify that the 2-19 above Resolution was adopted by 2-20 the Senate on February 22, 1993. 2-21 _____________________________________ 2-22 Secretary of the Senate 2-23 _____________________________________ 2-24 Member, Texas Senate
