    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                         Virginia Lois Parsons
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Thornton, Texas, in mourning the loss of
    1-7  Virginia Lois Parsons who died January 21, 1993, at the age of 71;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The beloved individual was a devoted wife, mother,
   1-10  and friend who leaves behind lasting memories of love and compassion;
   1-11  and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Her warmth, helpfulness, and generosity of spirit
   1-13  endeared her to all those fortunate enough to know her; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The daughter of Vernon and Lois Bates, Mrs. Parsons
   1-15  was born on October 16, 1921, and had lived in Thornton all of her
   1-16  life and in the house where she was born most of her life; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mrs. Parsons graduated from Thornton High School
   1-18  in 1940 and attended the 50th class reunion she helped organize in
   1-19  1990; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, She married Louis F. "Flew" Parsons on
   1-21  November 21, 1941, and the devoted couple owned and operated
   1-22  Parson's Grocery and Market for 13 years; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Interested in the welfare and progress of the
    2-1  community, they were deeply involved in various civic affairs; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Mrs. Parsons was active in the Thornton
    2-3  Parent-Teacher Association and was a member of the Board of Directors
    2-4  of the Limestone County Historical Museum; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she attended Central Baptist
    2-6  Church where she served as treasurer of the church for many years;
    2-7  and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Her wise counsel and good judgment will be greatly
    2-9  missed and remembered with gratitude by those who knew her; now,
   2-10  therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family
   2-13  of Virginia Lois Parsons:  her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and
   2-14  Vicky Parsons; and her grandchildren, Yancy Parsons and
   2-15  Cinnamon Starr Parsons; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-17  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
   2-18  the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
   2-19  do so in memory of Virginia Lois Parsons.
