By: Turner S.R. No. 286 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Maggie J. Moore 1-5 WHEREAS, The death of Maggie J. Moore of Corsicana, Texas, 1-6 on January 22, 1993, at the age of 85, was greatly mourned by her 1-7 fellow residents; and 1-8 WHEREAS, She will be remembered as a dedicated community 1-9 leader who gave of her time and energies to the benefit of the 1-10 citizens of Corsicana; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Maggie Moore was proud of her profession as a teacher 1-12 for the Corsicana Independent School District and Texas College in 1-13 Tyler; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Throughout her long and fruitful life, Miss Moore 1-15 earned the admiration and respect of those whose lives she touched; 1-16 and 1-17 WHEREAS, In devoting much of her time to the betterment of 1-18 her community, this respected lady achieved recognition in her work 1-19 as an educator and as founder of the Corsicana Martin Luther King 1-20 Holiday Commission; and 1-21 WHEREAS, She leaves a legacy of compassion and commitment 1-22 that will remain cherished by those who lived and worked with her; 1-23 now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to her sisters, 2-3 Alverta Moore and Wynona Combs; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-5 members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 2-6 Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in 2-7 memory of Maggie J.
