    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, J. Paul Turner was honored recently at the
    1-3  Fort Worth Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show for
    1-4  his diverse contributions to the Hereford industry; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Sweetwater rancher was made an honorary member
    1-6  of the Texas Hereford Association in recognition of his lifetime
    1-7  of commitment to raising Herefords and helping others in the
    1-8  industry; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A man of exceptional experience in cattle raising,
   1-10  Mr. Turner has provided leadership and shared his knowledge with
   1-11  ranchers throughout the West Texas area; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Active in the cattle business since he was a young
   1-13  boy, Mr. Turner helped his father on the family stock farm where
   1-14  they owned grade Herefords in the early 1900s; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, In 1934, he bought his first registered Herefords
   1-16  and continued to raise cattle until 1985 when he retired; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Hereford Association from 1939
   1-18  until 1985, Mr. Turner has continued to share his expertise as an
   1-19  associate member; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Contributing his energy and knowledge to the
   1-21  betterment of the Hereford industry, Mr. Turner has served with
   1-22  distinction as a director of the Sweetwater Area, Concho, and
   1-23  West Texas Hereford associations and as president of the Sweetwater
    2-1  Area and West Texas groups; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, His gracious manner and professionalism have earned
    2-3  him the respect and admiration of his associates; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, He has generously donated his time as president of
    2-5  the Sweetwater Livestock and Fair Association and serves on the
    2-6  boards of the Pioneer Museum, Nolan County Farm Bureau, and West
    2-7  Texas Fair; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, To show appreciation to this beloved individual,
    2-9  the 1968 4-H and Future Farmers of America Livestock Show and the
   2-10  1992 Gun, Knife and Coin Show were dedicated to Mr. Turner; now,
   2-11  therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  73rd Legislature, hereby commend J. Paul Turner for his exceptional
   2-14  contributions to the Hereford industry; and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-16  Mr. Turner as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
