No. 312 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated, 1-3 and so it was for Armstead Kone when he was the guest of honor on 1-4 his special day, February 8, 1993; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Since this was his 101st birthday, he has been 1-6 privileged to witness events many of us only read about in history 1-7 books; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Born February 8, 1892, Mr. Kone is a resident of 1-9 Holiday Retirement Center, where the staff members affectionately 1-10 refer to him as "Papa"; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The blessings of his long sojourn in this world 1-12 are evident as he recalls tales of years past; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Today, Mr. Kone enjoys reminiscing and takes 1-14 pleasure in the companionship of family and friends; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of his community, 1-16 he is noted for his exemplary courage and his amicable and generous 1-17 nature; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-19 73rd Legislature, hereby recognize Armstead Kone as a treasured 1-20 citizen of his state and wish him health and happiness; and, be 1-21 it further 1-22 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to him 1-23 as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-1 _____________________________________ 2-2 President of the Senate 2-3 I hereby certify that the 2-4 above Resolution was adopted by 2-5 the Senate on February 24, 1993. 2-6 _____________________________________ 2-7 Secretary of the Senate 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 Member, Texas Senate
