    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Ruben Lopez on his recent appointment as Assistant Police
    1-4  Chief for the Austin Police Department; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Beloved and respected by his colleagues,
    1-6  Assistant Chief Lopez is well known for his dedication to his
    1-7  profession and for his superior courage and leadership; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, he has manifested
    1-9  uncommon talent in managing the far-reaching responsibilities of
   1-10  his positions in the field of law enforcement, and he is admired by
   1-11  citizens across Travis County for his hard work and perseverance; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, A member of the Austin Police Department since 1972,
   1-13  Assistant Chief Lopez has served as a police officer, police
   1-14  sergeant, senior sergeant, and lieutenant captain; he has received
   1-15  50 awards and various letters of commendations for his outstanding
   1-16  work; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
   1-18  Ruben Lopez has made innumerable contributions to the City of Austin,
   1-19  and his promotion to the position of Assistant Police Chief is a
   1-20  much welcomed event by his colleagues in the Police Department and
   1-21  by the citizens of Travis County; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-23  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Assistant Chief Ruben Lopez on his
    2-1  superb career in law enforcement and extend best wishes to him for
    2-2  the future; and, be it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
    2-4  as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
