    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Edward F. Fernandes who was recently named a partner in
    1-4  the law firm of Weil, Gotshal and Manges; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A 1983 graduate of Columbia University School of Law,
    1-6  Mr. Fernandes was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1983 and the
    1-7  Texas Bar in 1985; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A brilliant litigator, Edward Fernandes has
    1-9  successfully defended many diverse foreign and domestic corporate
   1-10  clients for his firm; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Mr. Fernandes's career has included being an adjunct
   1-12  professor of law at the University of Houston Law Center since 1991
   1-13  and being a lecturer on deposition techniques for the Houston Bar
   1-14  Association; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Noted for his knowledge of the law, Mr. Fernandes
   1-16  possesses a dedication to the principles of our judicial system;
   1-17  he has earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The ability and wealth of experience that
   1-19  Mr. Fernandes has displayed are a most welcome asset to his firm;
   1-20  now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-22  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Edward F. Fernandes on his
   1-23  promotion to partner in the noteworthy law firm of Weil, Gotshal
    2-1  and Manges and wish him continued success in his stellar career;
    2-2  and, be it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-4  Mr. Fernandes as an expression of high regard from the
    2-5  Texas Senate.
