No. 321 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, On Tuesday, April 13, 1993, Pasadena Day will be 1-3 celebrated by the proud citizens of Pasadena in recognition of the 1-4 centennial year of their illustrious city and its contributions to 1-5 the State of Texas; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Situated along Vince's Bayou, Pasadena is today 1-7 largely a residential community associated with the petrochemical 1-8 and shipping industries along the Houston Ship Channel; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Pasadena is Spanish for Land of Flowers and legend 1-10 tells us that the town was settled in its present site because of its 1-11 blooming meadows along Vince's Bayou; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The citizens of Pasadena are to be commended for 1-13 their industriousness and their gracious hospitality to those who 1-14 visit this friendly town; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The community spirit in Pasadena is understandable, 1-16 and the residents have made it one of the outstanding cities in the 1-17 state; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The manifold contributions of the citizens of 1-19 Pasadena to the State of Texas are truly worthy of legislative 1-20 recognition and praise; and 1-21 WHEREAS, It is indeed a pleasure and a privilege for the 1-22 Texas Senate to honor this outstanding Texas town and its fine 1-23 citizens; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to the 2-3 citizens of Pasadena, Texas, on the 100th anniversary of its founding 2-4 with best wishes for a most memorable and joyous celebration; and, be 2-5 it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-7 the City of Pasadena as a memento of this grand event. 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the 2-11 above Resolution was adopted by 2-12 the Senate on February 25, 1993. 2-13 _____________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
