By: Leedom S.R. No. 327 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly recognizes 1-3 the members of the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement 1-4 Systems on the occasion of their fourth annual TEXPERS Conference 1-5 which is being held March 21 through 24, 1993, in Austin; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement 1-7 Systems "TEXPERS" is an effective statewide organization created with 1-8 the purpose of uniting and establishing the public pension systems of 1-9 Texas as a collective body; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Since it was chartered, the Texas Association 1-11 of Public Employee Retirement Systems has provided forums for 1-12 discussing state and national legislative issues that affect 1-13 Texas pension systems; it has also supplied important information 1-14 on retirement system administration, benefit designs, and federal 1-15 programs; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A voluntary, high quality, nonprofit 1-17 educational association, the Texas Association of Public Employee 1-18 Retirement Systems has assumed the tasks of improving the management 1-19 and administration of Texas public retirement systems and helping to 1-20 ensure their actuarial integrity; and 1-21 WHEREAS, This aspiring professional organization, 1-22 which has grown extensively in the last two years, has established 1-23 the strongest collective body in the State of Texas and is dedicated 2-1 to protecting the rights of the public employees of Texas as well as 2-2 the quality and strength of public pension systems throughout the 2-3 state; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Many of the nation's outstanding firms which 2-5 provide professional services to public pension funds are members 2-6 of the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems; these 2-7 associate members include actuaries, consultants, custodians, law 2-8 firms, money managers, and real estate advisors; and 2-9 WHEREAS, The fourth annual conference agenda includes key 2-10 governmental speakers addressing issues affecting public funds and 2-11 knowledgeable speakers from the investment, consulting, and 2-12 actuarial communities; the conference also includes "A Day at the 2-13 Capitol" which provides the opportunity for fruitful discussions 2-14 between the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems 2-15 members and legislators; now, therefore, be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-17 73rd Legislature, hereby welcome the Texas Association of Public 2-18 Employee Retirement Systems to Austin and express appreciation to 2-19 its board of directors and the member systems for their outstanding 2-20 accomplishments; and, be it further 2-21 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-22 Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems as an 2-23 expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-24 _____________________________________ 2-25 President of the Senate 3-1 I hereby certify that the 3-2 above Resolution was adopted by 3-3 the Senate on March 1, 1993. 3-4 _____________________________________ 3-5 Secretary of the Senate 3-6 _____________________________________ 3-7 Member, Texas Senate
