No. 330 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The occasion of a 100th birthday is an exceptionally 1-3 splendid one and calls for great celebration, and so it was for 1-4 Leah Thomson Armstrong of Georgetown, Texas, on February 6, 1993, 1-5 when she was the guest of honor on her special day; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Well known for her charm, genuineness, and 1-7 generosity of spirit, this gracious lady is a beloved resident of 1-8 Wesleyan Nursing Home; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Blessed with a sweet smile and warm nature, 1-10 Mrs. Armstrong is noted for her enviable calmness and serenity; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Born on February 6, 1893, Mrs. Armstrong is the 1-12 daughter of W. P. and Molly Wales of Florence; a longtime resident 1-13 of the Florence community, she married Raymond Armstrong on 1-14 November 6, 1911, and as farmers they worked side by side until his 1-15 death in 1968; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The oldest living member of the First United 1-17 Methodist Church in Florence, Mrs. Armstrong has lived her faith in 1-18 her daily life; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Still remarkably spry, she has lovingly tended her 1-20 large yard and garden all of her life; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Her life continues to be warmed by her many friends 1-22 and her nieces and nephew; Leah Armstrong is truly deserving of the 1-23 long and happy life with which she has been blessed; now, 2-1 therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere birthday greetings with many 2-4 happy returns to Leah Thomson Armstrong on her 100th birthday; and, 2-5 be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-7 Mrs. Armstrong as a memento of this exceptional milestone in her 2-8 life. 2-9 _____________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the 2-12 above Resolution was adopted by 2-13 the Senate on March 1, 1993. 2-14 _____________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 _____________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
