    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-3  family and friends of Douglas Schernik in congratulating him on
    1-4  receiving the 1992 Master Farmer Award presented by the Taylor
    1-5  Chamber of Commerce at their annual banquet on January 28, 1993; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A lifelong farmer, Mr. Schernik began helping his
    1-7  father, Curtis, at the age of eight on the family farm near Taylor
    1-8  and joined his father in partnership upon graduation from Taylor
    1-9  High School; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, After his father retired in 1987, Douglas assumed
   1-11  full responsibility for the family operation, consisting of 1,100
   1-12  acres in the Frame Switch, Waterloo, and Coupland areas; the land
   1-13  is cultivated in cotton, milo, and corn crops; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Conservation-minded in his farming practices,
   1-15  Mr. Schernik participates in test plots for new seed and chemical
   1-16  technology; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mr. Schernik has contributed his time and expertise
   1-18  to his community through his service on the board of directors of
   1-19  the Williamson County Grain Company where he served as president
   1-20  in 1990 and 1991 and as a member of the Williamson-Milam County
   1-21  Pest Management Committee; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, An active layman of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, he
   1-23  served on the church council for several years; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Douglas Schernik is truly deserving of the honor
    2-2  bestowed on him and the Texas Senate is pleased to recognize his
    2-3  special contributions to the citizens of Williamson County and the
    2-4  State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Douglas Schernik and extend best
    2-7  wishes for the future; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to
    2-9  Mr. Schernik as an expression of the high regard and appreciation
   2-10  of the Texas Senate.
