    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  join with the citizens of Taylor in congratulating Alma Lee Pitts
    1-4  who was named Outstanding Woman of the Year by the Taylor Area
    1-5  Businesswomen at the Taylor Chamber of Commerce Banquet on
    1-6  January 28, 1993; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, An ardent believer in education as the key to
    1-8  success, Mrs. Pitts encourages young people to continue their
    1-9  education after graduating from high school; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, A classroom mother at Saint Mary's School for
   1-11  the past eight years, she has been active in the Taylor Middle
   1-12  School Parents Support Group and the Taylor High School Parent
   1-13  Guidance Committee; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, After serving as a volunteer coordinator for the
   1-15  after-school tutoring program at Our Lady of Guadalupe, the
   1-16  dedicated mother of two sons continues to offer her services at
   1-17  the Northside Super Center and is a community representative with
   1-18  the Taylor High School Campus Improvement Plan; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping the youth of the community,
   1-20  Mrs. Pitts is founder and director of the Citizens for the Future
   1-21  Scholarship Fund and has awarded four $500 and six $1,000
   1-22  scholarships to Taylor High School graduates since 1990; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, A third-term member of the Taylor Independent
    2-1  School District Board of Trustees, she has helped implement many
    2-2  new programs in the Taylor schools; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Her meritorious work and exemplary devotion to her
    2-4  community have earned her the admiration and esteem of the citizens
    2-5  of Taylor; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  73rd Legislature, hereby recognize Alma Lee Pitts for her important
    2-8  contributions to the youth of Taylor and extend best wishes to her
    2-9  in her future endeavors; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-11  Mrs. Pitts as an expression of the appreciation of the Texas Senate.
