    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-3  residents of the City of Waco in declaring Wednesday, March 3, 1993,
    1-4  as Waco Day; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Located in the agricultural region of the
    1-6  Brazos River Valley, Waco was once the center of cotton and cattle
    1-7  country and is today a city rich with the flavor of its history; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The nearby Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum
    1-9  at Fort Fisher chronicles the lives of the famed lawmen who tamed
   1-10  the frontier and displays a unique collection of guns and weapons
   1-11  from the Old West; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The Old Suspension Bridge built in 1870 is still
   1-13  used as a pedestrian crossing, and historic homes lend charm from
   1-14  the past to a thriving city; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The cold springs area of the Brazos River was a
   1-16  popular location for the Indians; Indian lore, anthropological
   1-17  collections, and relics of early Texas can be viewed at the Strecker
   1-18  Museum and the Texas History Collection; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Well known for its educational, cultural, and
   1-20  recreational facilities, Waco is home to Baylor University and the
   1-21  famous Armstrong-Browning Library, the Cen-Tex Zoo, and the
   1-22  Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Although it is a growing metropolis of modern
    2-1  industry, the City of Waco has retained much of its rural charm and
    2-2  natural beauty; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, In the heart of the city is a network of 16
    2-4  spacious municipal parks and one of the state's largest natural
    2-5  municipal parks, 380-acre Cameron Park; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, The residents of Waco have worked diligently to
    2-7  safeguard the amenities of their city, and they deserve to be proud
    2-8  of their efforts; now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-10  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the people of the City of Waco
   2-11  for the care they have taken with their city and extend best wishes
   2-12  to them for a joyous and celebratory Waco Day; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-14  residents of Waco as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate.
