No. 393 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 welcome the members of the Texas Publishers Association who will 1-4 be in Houston for their Seventh Annual Convention March 12 through 1-5 March 15, 1993; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The Texas Publishers Association is a statewide 1-7 organization of newspaper publishers dedicated to informing Texans 1-8 and upholding the highest ethics in journalism; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The convention will serve as a training session 1-10 for improving the publishers' news coverage; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The convention will also be used as an opportunity 1-12 for publishers to learn about new techniques to increase their 1-13 efficiency and ways to improve their community image; the theme of 1-14 this year's convention is "Government Relations and the Black Press' 1-15 Salute to Elected Officials"; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Seminars are planned to cover many topics including 1-17 electronic desktop publishing layout and design, community coverage, 1-18 and the use of color in newspapers; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The Texas Publishers Association has maintained 1-20 a tradition of providing the most recent and vital news in a 1-21 responsible and accurate manner; this group of publishers is truly 1-22 worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 73rd Legislature, hereby recognize and honor the Texas Publishers 2-2 Association on the grand occasion of its Seventh Annual Convention; 2-3 and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-5 the Texas Publishers Association as an expression of highest regard 2-6 from the Texas Senate. 2-7 _____________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the 2-10 above Resolution was adopted by 2-11 the Senate on March 10, 1993. 2-12 _____________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 _____________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
