No. 405 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 express its appreciation to Phil Neighbors for his exceptional 1-4 contributions to the citizens of Kerrville; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Executive Vice-President of the Kerrville Area 1-6 Chamber of Commerce since September 1, 1986, Mr. Neighbors has 1-7 discharged his responsibilities in an exemplary manner while 1-8 earning the respect and confidence of those with whom he is 1-9 associated; and 1-10 WHEREAS, His diligence and ability in the performance of his 1-11 duties have helped the organization to grow to 900 members; the 1-12 combined budget of the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce, CVB, and 1-13 Economic Development Foundation totals over $650,000 and the group 1-14 employs eight full-time workers; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The highly respected community leader has 1-16 contributed his time and energies to the betterment of the community 1-17 in various ways; he has served on the Board of the Texas Industrial 1-18 Development Council, as vice-president of the Texas Chamber of 1-19 Commerce Executives Association, and as past president of the 1-20 Chamber of Commerce Executives Association of West Texas; and 1-21 WHEREAS, A native of Pomona, California, Mr. Neighbors 1-22 attended Angelo State University where he earned a bachelor of arts 1-23 degree in 1974; and 2-1 WHEREAS, His career began in 1974 when he became District 2-2 Executive for the American Cancer Society in Lufkin, Texas; soon 2-3 recognized for his leadership qualities, Mr. Neighbors became 2-4 Development Director of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce in 2-5 Abilene, a post he ably filled for 10 years; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Throughout his notable career Phil Neighbors has 2-7 been strengthened by the love and support of his gracious wife, 2-8 Susan, and their two children; and 2-9 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the 2-10 citizens of Kerrville in commending Mr. Neighbors for his outstanding 2-11 work as Executive Vice-President of the Kerrville Chamber of 2-12 Commerce; now, therefore, be it 2-13 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-14 73rd Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Phil Neighbors for 2-15 continued success in his new endeavors as he joins the San Marcos 2-16 Chamber of Commerce; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-18 this distinguished gentleman as an expression of the high regard 2-19 of the Texas Senate. 2-20 _____________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the 2-23 above Resolution was adopted by 2-24 the Senate on March 15, 1993. 2-25 _____________________________________ 3-1 Secretary of the Senate 3-2 _____________________________________ 3-3 Member, Texas Senate
