No. 406 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Yreva Sue Sims Allen has retired from the Brazosport 1-3 Independent School District after 33 years of commendable service, 1-4 and the Texas Senate is proud to recognize her contributions to the 1-5 citizens of Texas; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Born January 25, 1932, to Anna Belle Sims and 1-7 James R. Sims, Mrs. Allen graduated from Freeport High School in 1-8 May, 1949; she pursued her higher education at Baylor University 1-9 where she graduated in May, 1954; and 1-10 WHEREAS, As both a social studies supervisor and a classroom 1-11 teacher, Mrs. Allen contributed her expertise to our young people 1-12 by giving them an excellent education; and 1-13 WHEREAS, An inspiring and gifted teacher and supervisor, she 1-14 captured the imagination and attention of her young pupils, thereby 1-15 bestowing on her students the great gift of a lifelong interest in 1-16 learning and growing intellectually; and 1-17 WHEREAS, As an exemplary role model, Mrs. Allen was noted for 1-18 her hard work and dedication to her students; and 1-19 WHEREAS, With firmness, fairness, and love, she encouraged 1-20 young people to pursue excellence by developing their natural 1-21 talents and abilities; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Our young people are among our state's most 1-23 treasured assets, and their education is vital to the future of our 2-1 state as they become tomorrow's leaders and statesmen; and 2-2 WHEREAS, A woman of strength of character and high moral 2-3 purpose, Mrs. Allen will be remembered by her thousands of students 2-4 as a dynamic force in their lives; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Offering encouragement and support throughout her 2-6 distinguished career have been her husband, James Ray Allen, and 2-7 her children, James Jerral, Teresa Yvonne, Joseph Carlton, and 2-8 John David; and 2-9 WHEREAS, It is indeed fitting and appropriate that the 2-10 Senate of the State of Texas join with the students, faculty, and 2-11 administrators of the Brazosport Independent School District in 2-12 paying tribute to the life of service of this esteemed educator; 2-13 now, therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-15 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Yreva Sue Sims Allen for her superb 2-16 contributions to the educational system of Texas and extend best 2-17 wishes to her for a rich and rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-19 her as an expression of highest appreciation and respect from the 2-20 Texas Senate. 2-21 _____________________________________ 2-22 President of the Senate 2-23 I hereby certify that the 2-24 above Resolution was adopted by 2-25 the Senate on March 15, 1993. 3-1 _____________________________________ 3-2 Secretary of the Senate 3-3 _____________________________________ 3-4 Member, Texas Senate
