    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                          Jack Dempsey Rainey
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  family and many friends of Jack Dempsey Rainey in mourning his
    1-7  death on March 2, 1993; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born November 2, 1920, in Lindsey, Oklahoma,
    1-9  Mr. Rainey served his country honorably as a staff sergeant
   1-10  in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Rainey was an active member
   1-12  of the First Christian Church of Weslaco and served as an elder for
   1-13  the church; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Highly esteemed by his fellow citizens, Mr. Rainey
   1-15  was a tireless volunteer who donated much of his time to the Humane
   1-16  Society and Meals on Wheels; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A man who loved socializing with his friends and
   1-18  family, Jack Rainey's civic activities included being a member of
   1-19  the Weslaco Lions Club where his musical talents were utilized for
   1-20  the Lions Club minstrel and various functions in the Rio Grande
   1-21  Valley; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, A distinguished gentleman who loved to help his
   1-23  neighbors, Mr. Rainey had been associated with Gulf Distributing
    2-1  Company, McManus Produce Company, and Ross Gin Company; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Mr. Rainey's wise counsel and good judgment will be
    2-3  greatly missed and remembered with gratitude by those who lived and
    2-4  worked with him; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-7  members of his family:  his wife, Mary Ellen Rainey; his
    2-8  daughters, Karen Maloy and Jackie Rainey Harrison; his sisters,
    2-9  LaVern Hinojosa, LaRue Back, and LaJean Butts; and his four
   2-10  grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-12  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-13  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-14  in memory of Jack Dempsey Rainey.
