S.R. No. 414 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Hector Enriquez, Jr., on his recent selection as the 1-4 recipient of the 1993 Lewis Hine Award Special Citation for 1-5 Volunteer Service to young people; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Mr. Enriquez was chosen by the National Child 1-7 Labor Committee as the number one children's volunteer in the 1-8 United States for exemplary work on behalf of youths in difficult 1-9 circumstances; and 1-10 WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Mr. Enriquez has 1-11 worked tirelessly to help the abused, neglected, and otherwise 1-12 disadvantaged children of El Paso; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A gifted leader and a resourceful community 1-14 volunteer, Mr. Enriquez has served as Chairman of the El Paso 1-15 Child Welfare Board, Chairman of the Advisory Council to the 1-16 El Paso Juvenile Board, a member of the Texas Court Appointed 1-17 Special Advocates, and a member of the Texas Task Force on 1-18 Permanency Planning for Foster Children; he has been a fund 1-19 raiser and communicator for Optimist Club Youth Appreciation 1-20 Week and the Christmas Breakfast with Santa which benefit the 1-21 community's most needy children; and 1-22 WHEREAS, A man of uncommon generosity, he has devoted his 1-23 time and energy to serving as a mentor to at-risk children in 2-1 programs such as Super Stars; he also participates in a program 2-2 in which he reads to grade school children, and he works with 2-3 both the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts; and 2-4 WHEREAS, An El Paso County Clerk for the past 12 years, 2-5 Mr. Enriquez has received numerous accolades for his outstanding 2-6 community service; he received the Volunteer of the Year Award 2-7 from the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards, the Outstanding 2-8 Director Award from the El Paso Boy's Club, the Humanitarian of 2-9 the Year Award from the Black El Paso Community, and the Special 2-10 Recognition Award from the Foster Parent Association; and 2-11 WHEREAS, A wise and exemplary gentleman and a highly 2-12 respected humanitarian, Hector Enriquez is a man of unusual 2-13 talent and dedication whose concern for others is legendary; now, 2-14 therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-16 73rd Legislature, hereby express appreciation to Hector Enriquez 2-17 for his countless contributions to the youth of his community and 2-18 to the State of Texas; and, be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him 2-20 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-21 Rosson 2-22 Armbrister Leedom Shapiro 2-23 Barrientos Lucio Shelley 2-24 Bivins Luna Sibley 2-25 Brown Madla Sims 3-1 Carriker Moncrief Truan 3-2 Ellis Montford Turner 3-3 Haley Nelson Wentworth 3-4 Harris of Dallas Parker West 3-5 Harris of Tarrant Patterson Whitmire 3-6 Henderson Ratliff Zaffirini 3-7 Bullock, President of the Senate 3-8 _____________________________________ 3-9 President of the Senate 3-10 I hereby certify that the 3-11 above Resolution was adopted by 3-12 the Senate on March 15, 1993. 3-13 _____________________________________ 3-14 Secretary of the Senate 3-15 _____________________________________ 3-16 Member, Texas Senate
