No. 423 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing the Parent Association for the Retarded of Texas "PART" 1-4 for its exceptional efforts on behalf of retarded citizens who 1-5 reside in our state schools and hospitals; and 1-6 WHEREAS, PART was founded 19 years ago by concerned 1-7 parents of retarded citizens and is noted for the support it offers 1-8 to state school employees and for its advocacy of new programs to 1-9 meet the complex needs of the retarded; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Hardworking and dedicated, the members of PART 1-11 have designed numerous projects to enhance the quality of care for 1-12 state school residents and residents of various other institutions; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, Members of PART closely follow any legislation 1-15 that will affect the retarded citizens of Texas and have served on 1-16 the committee to draft the Mentally Retarded Persons Act; and 1-17 WHEREAS, PART members devote their time and energy to 1-18 helping handicapped individuals to reach their highest personal, 1-19 educational, and vocational potential; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Countless mentally handicapped citizens have 1-21 benefitted significantly from the superior services which members 1-22 of PART provide; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 73rd Legislature, hereby express appreciation for the many worthy 2-2 accomplishments of this association and declare March 16, 1993, 2-3 as Parent Association for the Retarded of Texas Day; and, be it 2-4 further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-6 Parent Association for the Retarded of Texas as an expression of 2-7 high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the 2-11 above Resolution was adopted by 2-12 the Senate on March 15, 1993. 2-13 _____________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
