1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The retirement of Goodhue W. Smith, Jr.,
1-3 will bring to a close a career marked by exceptional service
1-4 as Senior Chairman of the Board of the Citizens National Bank of
1-5 Milam County; and
1-6 WHEREAS, The respected officer has set a high standard of
1-7 professionalism, inspiring others by his loyalty, dependability,
1-8 and exemplary conduct; Mr. Smith has served with distinction and
1-9 integrity and will continue to be a notable example for those who
1-10 follow; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Under his able leadership the bank has handled its
1-12 duties and responsibilities with efficiency and dedication to the
1-13 people it so conscientiously serves; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Mr. Smith has distinguished himself as a capable
1-15 and visionary executive who has earned the respect and admiration
1-16 of those who work with him; and
1-17 WHEREAS, An outstanding gentleman, Mr. Smith has freely
1-18 given his time and energies to the community; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Following in the path established by the Smith
1-20 family who have been stewards of Citizens National Bank for
1-21 92 years, Mr. Smith has upheld the time-honored tradition of
1-22 service to the citizens of Milam County; and
1-23 WHEREAS, Through the past nine decades, Citizens National
2-1 Bank has met the needs of the people it serves and has grown with
2-2 the area, providing convenient banking locations in Cameron and
2-3 Rockdale; and
2-4 WHEREAS, As Mr. Smith steps down he will in turn pass the
2-5 leadership to his son, Goodhue W. Smith III, who has ably held
2-6 the position of Chairman of the Executive Committee Board of
2-7 Directors; now, therefore, be it
2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-9 73rd Legislature, hereby recognize and commend Goodhue W. Smith, Jr.,
2-10 for his exceptional contributions to Citizens National Bank of
2-11 Milam County and to the residents of the county; and, be it further
2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13 him as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate with
2-14 best wishes for a most rewarding retirement.
