    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly
    1-3  recognizes the Dallas Lincoln High School boys basketball team
    1-4  for winning the Class 4A state basketball championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Dallas Lincoln Tigers captured their title
    1-6  after defeating Port Arthur Lincoln in an emotional 46-45 battle
    1-7  on March 13, 1993; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, In the last minutes of the game, the team members
    1-9  showed exceptional talent and an amazing ability to regroup after
   1-10  a contest that had been closely fought and plagued with turnovers;
   1-11  and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The Tigers' victory gave Dallas Lincoln a 33-3
   1-13  record for the season and its second basketball title in three
   1-14  years; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the Tigers manifested an
   1-16  indomitable spirit and fine skills that are a tribute to head
   1-17  coach Richard Bacon; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, These dedicated basketball players have given
   1-19  the citizens of Dallas and the surrounding area a renewed sense
   1-20  of pride and have brought excitement to all who follow the high
   1-21  school basketball championship games; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance, team unity, and respect
   1-23  for the highest ideals of American sportsmanship, team members
    2-1  have brought honor to their school and their community; now,
    2-2  therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  73rd Legislature, hereby commend members of the Dallas Lincoln
    2-5  High School boys basketball team on their great victory and
    2-6  extend congratulations to Coach Bacon and to each of the players;
    2-7  and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-9  the team as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
