    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                             Delwin Rohde
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Brenham in mourning the loss of Delwin Rohde who died
    1-7  March 8, 1993, at the age of 73; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born June 1, 1919, in Fayette County, Texas,
    1-9  Delwin Rohde married Ellen Gaertner Guettler on October 17, 1964;
   1-10  and
   1-11        WHEREAS, He attended Blinn College,
   1-12  Sam Houston State University, and Massey Real Estate College;
   1-13  and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A man of deep patriotism, Mr. Rohde served in the
   1-15  United States Army during World War II where he rose to the rank
   1-16  of captain and received a Bronze Star; he was an active member and
   1-17  served as commander of Buddy Wright Post 48 of the American Legion
   1-18  and of James F. Dillon Post 7104 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars;
   1-19  and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Respected in the community for his many
   1-21  accomplishments, Delwin Rohde was an exemplary gentleman; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Mr. Rohde was dedicated to his work and was a
   1-23  leader in his community; he was associated with the Texas State
    2-1  Welfare Department and the Brenham Urban Renewal Agency and he
    2-2  served as housing director of the Brazos Valley Development Council;
    2-3  and
    2-4        WHEREAS, He participated in countless civic activities and
    2-5  will best be remembered for the time and energy he spent building
    2-6  and decorating floats for the Brenham Maifest; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
    2-8  Delwin Rohde gave unselfishly of his time to others; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Rohde was a member of
   2-10  Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin where he served on the church
   2-11  council; and
   2-12        WHEREAS, Mr. Rohde's wisdom, warm spirit, and valued counsel
   2-13  will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
   2-14        WHEREAS, Delwin Rohde was a devoted husband and father, and
   2-15  he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
   2-16  family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
   2-17        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-18  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
   2-19  family of Delwin Rohde:  his wife, Ellen Guettler Rohde; his son,
   2-20  Dr. Norris Rohde; his stepson, Glenn Roy Guettler; his stepdaughter,
   2-21  Carol Zbranek; his brother, Leslie Rohde; his sister, Edna Lange;
   2-22  and his six stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren; and,
   2-23  be it further
   2-24        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-25  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
    3-1  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
    3-2  in memory of Delwin Rohde.
