    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  congratulate the Zach White Elementary School Campus Improvement
    1-4  Committee on the success of the role model program that was
    1-5  implemented in the 1991-1992 school year; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, In the 1992-1993 school year the program was expanded
    1-7  to include over 30 professional men and women who agreed to visit
    1-8  their adopted classes at least once each six weeks; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The importance of adult attention in a child's
   1-10  life cannot be overemphasized; it is vital that each child see
   1-11  that success can be achieved and know adults who have succeeded
   1-12  in their lives and careers; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Presentations that the role models give include
   1-14  information on educational, travel, and personal experiences and
   1-15  lessons aimed at promoting self-esteem and self-confidence; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, In adopting a class, each adult can share with the
   1-17  pupils information about career opportunities and the importance
   1-18  of being free from drugs; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Student benefits from the program include an
   1-20  expanded vision of educational and career possibilities as well
   1-21  as the concrete example of one important person in the community
   1-22  showing that it is possible to achieve success; now, therefore, be
   1-23  it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-2  73rd Legislature, hereby commend the Zach White Elementary
    2-3  School Campus Improvement Committee and congratulate its members
    2-4  for implementing such a successful program for their school; and,
    2-5  be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-7  Zach White Elementary School as an expression of esteem from the
    2-8  Texas Senate.
