    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                             Shay Deering
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Lubbock in mourning the untimely loss of Shay Deering
    1-7  who died March 1, 1993, at the age of 19; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Lubbock, Shay was a graduate
    1-9  of Monterey High School and a freshman at Texas Tech University; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Shay was a talented and popular student who was
   1-11  beloved by her classmates in high school and in college; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, A young woman of integrity, strength, and
   1-13  generosity, Shay Deering gave unselfishly of her time to others; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Shay was intelligent and warmhearted and will long
   1-15  be remembered for her engaging personality, her wisdom, and her
   1-16  sense of humor; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Shay Deering was devoted to her parents, sisters,
   1-18  and brother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured
   1-19  forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-21  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
   1-22  family of Shay Deering:  her mother and stepfather, Eleanor and
   1-23  Bill Porter; her father and stepmother, Dennis and Stephanie Deering;
    2-1  her brother, Jarrett Porter; her sisters, Shawna Deering and
    2-2  Ryan Deering; and her grandparents, Alton and Jo Ann Griffin and
    2-3  Harold and Grace Deering; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-5  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
    2-6  the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
    2-7  so in memory of Shay Deering.
