No. 462 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly 1-3 recognizes the Dimmitt High School girls basketball team for 1-4 winning the Class 3A girls state basketball championship; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Dimmitt Bobbies captured their title with a 1-6 33-3 record after defeating Dripping Springs 59-51 in the 1-7 championship game March 6, 1993; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Dimmitt senior Halley Bradley, named the 1-9 tournament's most valuable player, deserves exceptional praise 1-10 for her 24 points, eight rebounds, and three steals; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The Bobbies' victory gave Region 1 its sixth 1-12 3A state championship in the past seven seasons and gave Dimmitt 1-13 its first girls state basketball crown since 1955; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The team members showed amazing talent and 1-15 manifested the fine skills and discipline instilled in them 1-16 by head coach Richard Wood; and 1-17 WHEREAS, These dedicated basketball players have given 1-18 the citizens of Castro County a renewed sense of pride and have 1-19 brought excitement to all who follow sports in the Dimmitt area; 1-20 and 1-21 WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance, team unity, and respect 1-22 for the highest ideals of American sportsmanship, team members have 1-23 brought honor to their school and their community; now, therefore, 2-1 be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 73rd Legislature, hereby commend the Dimmitt High School girls 2-4 basketball team on their great victory and extend congratulations 2-5 to Coach Wood and to each of the players; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-7 the team as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the 2-11 above Resolution was adopted by 2-12 the Senate on March 22, 1993. 2-13 _____________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
