No. 471 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, East Texans are widely known for their civic pride 1-3 and social involvement; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The City of Crockett and all its citizens seek 1-5 to honor Sallie Woodward for being an outstanding steward of her 1-6 community; and 1-7 WHEREAS, On March 25, 1993, the City of Crockett will 1-8 observe "Sallie Woodward Day" to show its appreciation to her 1-9 for the 20 years of illustrious service which she has provided 1-10 her community; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Sallie Woodward earned her bachelor's degree and 1-12 master's degree in library science at Sam Houston State University; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, She was the librarian of the John F. Wootters 1-15 Crockett Public Library for 20 years, from 1972 to 1992; and 1-16 WHEREAS, During her tenure as librarian, this prominent 1-17 citizen oversaw the acquisition of a rare book collection, an 1-18 addition of a genealogy/conference room, and a children's section 1-19 with a summer reading program; and 1-20 WHEREAS, It is vital for the life of a town to have citizens 1-21 who are dedicated and concerned; such a citizen is Sallie Woodward; 1-22 and 1-23 WHEREAS, The City of Crockett is indeed fortunate to count 2-1 this woman as one of its most dedicated leaders; now, therefore, 2-2 be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 73rd Legislature, hereby commend and congratulate Sallie Woodward 2-5 on the momentous occasion of Sallie Woodward Day on March 25, 1993; 2-6 and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-8 Sallie Woodward as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-9 _____________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the 2-12 above Resolution was adopted by 2-13 the Senate on March 23, 1993. 2-14 _____________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 _____________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
