    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                         James Edwin Thompson
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Zephyr in mourning the loss of James Edwin Thompson
    1-7  who died March 7, 1993, at the age of 69; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born June 11, 1923, in Forsyth County, Georgia,
    1-9  Mr. Thompson had lived in Zephyr for the past six years; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, He was retired from the United States Air Force
   1-11  and was a veteran of World War II; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Respected and beloved by his friends, James Thompson
   1-13  was an exemplary gentleman; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A well-known leader in his community and active
   1-15  in volunteer work, he was a past master of Mount Zion Masonic Lodge
   1-16  Number 316, Gainsville, Georgia, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason,
   1-17  and a Shriner; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
   1-19  gave unselfishly of his time to others; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Thompson was a member of
   1-21  the Baptist faith; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, His wisdom, warm spirit, and valued counsel will
   1-23  not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, James E. Thompson was a devoted father and
    2-2  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
    2-3  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-6  bereaved family of James E. Thompson:  his daughters,
    2-7  Jonita Coleman, Jeannie Cox, and Juanita Cox; his mother,
    2-8  Clyde Thompson; his brothers, Jerry Thompson, Charles Thompson,
    2-9  Eugene Thompson, Lamar Thompson, Johnny Thompson, and
   2-10  Macky Thompson; and his four grandchildren and eight
   2-11  great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-13  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-14  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-15  in memory of James E. Thompson.
