    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                             George Truan
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  family and many friends of George Truan in mourning the loss of
    1-7  this distinguished gentleman who died on September 1, 1992; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Mr. Truan attended Kingsville public schools and
    1-9  graduated with a bachelor of science degree from
   1-10  Texas A&I University; he earned a master of science degree in 1975;
   1-11  and
   1-12        WHEREAS, An inspiring and gifted educator, Mr. Truan served
   1-13  his community as an art instructor for over 20 years; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Esteemed by his colleagues, Mr. Truan garnered many
   1-15  honors over the years; he was listed in Who's Who in American
   1-16  Colleges and Universities, received the Piper Award for teaching
   1-17  excellence, and was chairman of the Art Department at Texas Southmost
   1-18  College; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A man known for his civic pride and social
   1-20  involvement, Mr. Truan served his community as a member of the
   1-21  Brownsville Youth Council, Patron of the Arts Committee, and
   1-22  Heritage Council; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, This prominent citizen was a member of the Planning
    2-1  and Zoning Commission, advisory board member of Vocational Home
    2-2  Economics for the Handicapped, member of the Brownsville Community
    2-3  Health Clinic Board, and past chairman of the Brownsville Health
    2-4  Clinic; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, This respected gentleman's notable achievements
    2-6  greatly contributed to the development and progress of his community,
    2-7  city, and state; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Mr. Truan's wise counsel and good judgment will be
    2-9  greatly missed and remembered with gratitude by those who lived and
   2-10  worked with him; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  73rd Legislature, hereby extend heartfelt condolences to the
   2-13  members of his family on their grievous loss; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-15  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
   2-16  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
   2-17  it do so in memory of George Truan.
