    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The retirement of John A. Cox on March 31, 1993,
    1-3  will bring to a close a career marked by exceptional service as
    1-4  a Justice of the Peace in Nueces County for the past 18 years; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The respected gentleman has set a high standard of
    1-6  professionalism, inspiring others by his loyalty, dependability,
    1-7  and exemplary conduct; John Cox has served with distinction and
    1-8  integrity and will continue to be a notable example for those
    1-9  who follow; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, He has handled his duties and responsibilities
   1-11  with efficiency and dedication to the people he so conscientiously
   1-12  serves; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, An outstanding public servant, John Cox has freely
   1-14  given his time and energies to the community; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, During his long tenure, the esteemed justice of the
   1-16  peace performed 4,500 weddings, a service he will continue to offer
   1-17  after his retirement; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, His service to his country was marked by the same
   1-19  steadfastness and devotion to duty during his 20-year career in
   1-20  the United States Navy as an Air Traffic Controller; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Before being elected to the office he held so ably,
   1-22  John Cox was Deputy Constable for three years and Deputy Sheriff
   1-23  for four years; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, He plans to enjoy life to the fullest with his
    2-2  wife, Jerri; the devoted couple has been married 42 years; now,
    2-3  therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  73rd Legislature, hereby recognize and commend John A. Cox for
    2-6  his important contributions to the citizens of Nueces County; and,
    2-7  be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
    2-9  as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate with best
   2-10  wishes for a most rewarding retirement.
