    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                       Charlotte L. Quackenbush
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
    1-6  citizens of Amarillo in mourning the loss of Charlotte L. Quackenbush
    1-7  who died March 17, 1993, at the age of 70; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born in San Juan Capistrano, California,
    1-9  Charlotte Quackenbush moved to Amarillo in 1957 from La Habra,
   1-10  California; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, She received a bachelor's degree in primary
   1-12  education and art in 1944 from the University of Southern California;
   1-13  and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Charlotte Quackenbush was dedicated to her work
   1-15  as a civic leader and was nominated for Woman of the Year in 1978
   1-16  by her Beta Sigma Phi chapter; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, She was a member of the Amarillo Art Center, a
   1-18  founder of the Art Alliance, and a leading member of the
   1-19  Symphony Guild; she was a Patron of Symphony and had served as
   1-20  co-chairman of the Amarillo Symphony Phonathon; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A woman of many interests who devoted countless
   1-22  hours to volunteer work, she had been a member of the
   1-23  Saint Anthony's Foundation and Saint Anthony's Hospital Auxiliary,
    2-1  served on the Health Advisory Committee at Amarillo College, and
    2-2  served as president of the Olsen Park Garden Club; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Respected in the community for her many
    2-4  accomplishments, Charlotte Quackenbush was an exemplary lady who
    2-5  gave unselfishly of her time to others; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Quackenbush was a member
    2-7  of the First Presbyterian Church and the Texas Presbyterian
    2-8  Foundation Board of Directors; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, Her wisdom, warmth, enthusiasm, and compassion will
   2-10  not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
   2-11        WHEREAS, Charlotte Quackenbush was a devoted wife and mother,
   2-12  and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
   2-13  her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
   2-14        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-15  73rd Legislature, hereby  extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
   2-16  family of Charlotte L. Quackenbush:  her husband, Bill Quackenbush;
   2-17  her son, Jack Quackenbush; her daughter, Louise Wisian; her brothers,
   2-18  Carl Buckheim and Larry Buckheim; and her four grandchildren; and,
   2-19  be it further
   2-20        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-21  members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-22  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-23  in memory of Charlotte L. Quackenbush.
