No. 536 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The National Pharmaceutical Association was founded 1-3 in 1947 in Washington, D.C.; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The National Pharmaceutical Association represents 1-5 the interest of the nation's approximately 6,000 African-American 1-6 pharmacists; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The National Pharmaceutical Association is hosting 1-8 the 46th Annual Convention in Fort Worth, Texas, July 31 through 1-9 August 5, 1993; and 1-10 WHEREAS, African-American pharmacists are meeting to 1-11 establish a national health care agenda for the minority 1-12 community; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The profession of pharmacy has again been recognized 1-14 in a Gallup Poll as being the most respected profession in America; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, The National Pharmaceutical Association encourages 1-17 students and its members to strive for higher education and to serve 1-18 as role models for the communities in which its members practice 1-19 pharmacy; and 1-20 WHEREAS, The National Pharmaceutical Association has selected 1-21 the State of Texas to host its annual meeting; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Pharmacists are indispensable members of the health 1-23 care team; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Recent federal legislation will expand even further 2-2 the role of the pharmacist in health care delivery; now, therefore, 2-3 be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-5 73rd Legislature, hereby designate July 31 through August 5, 1993, 2-6 as National Pharmaceutical Association Week in the State of Texas; 2-7 and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-9 National Pharmaceutical Association as an expression of highest 2-10 esteem and respect from the Texas Senate. 2-11 _____________________________________ 2-12 President of the Senate 2-13 I hereby certify that the 2-14 above Resolution was adopted by 2-15 the Senate on April 1, 1993. 2-16 _____________________________________ 2-17 Secretary of the Senate 2-18 _____________________________________ 2-19 Member, Texas Senate
