    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Linnie D. Hudgins of Angleton, Texas, as an outstanding
    1-4  citizen of our state; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Born in Sublette, Illinois, on June 9, 1906,
    1-6  Mrs. Hudgins moved to Angleton at the age of 18 months and attended
    1-7  Angleton schools; she later moved to Freeport but returned to
    1-8  Angleton in 1970 with her husband, William Wesley Hudgins; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A woman of many talents, Linnie Hudgins was an
   1-10  employee of Freeport National Bank during the 1930s and 1940s, a
   1-11  partner with Bertha Salmans in the Freeport Flower Shop in the
   1-12  late 1940s, and a bookkeeper for the Brazosport Independent School
   1-13  District in the lunchroom division until her retirement in 1969; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader, she has
   1-15  served for many years as treasurer of the Brazoria County Historical
   1-16  Commission and worked for 20 years as a volunteer at the
   1-17  Angleton-Danbury Hospital Auxiliary; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, At the Angleton-Danbury Hospital, she is well
   1-19  known for her years of co-chairing the monthly blood drives and for
   1-20  heading the group that crochets caps for the hospital's newborn
   1-21  babies; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Mrs. Hudgins' concern for others is legendary, and
   1-23  she has played a major role in the betterment of the Freeport and
    2-1  Angleton communities; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, A distinguished and exemplary lady, Linnie Hudgins
    2-3  has been a source of strength to many, and her worthy projects and
    2-4  accomplishments reflect her dedication to her fellowman; now,
    2-5  therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Linnie D. Hudgins on her exceptional
    2-8  leadership as a volunteer and her countless hours of hard work; and,
    2-9  be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-11  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
