    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes
    1-3  pleasure in recognizing Arnold Leal for his selection as the
    1-4  1993 Corpus Christi Independent School District Teacher of the
    1-5  Year; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Arnold Leal has been a teacher for 20 years and
    1-7  has served at Miller High School for the past six years as a
    1-8  vocational teacher; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Mr. Leal is a Robstown native who graduated from
   1-10  Ray High School and was told by a high school counselor he was not
   1-11  "college material"; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, After serving for three years in the United States
   1-13  Marines, he earned a bachelor's degree from Texas A&I University
   1-14  in two and one-half years and later earned his master's degree; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, An exceptionally gifted and dedicated teacher,
   1-16  Mr. Leal serves on Miller High School's site-based management team
   1-17  which is a group of teachers, students, parents, and administrators
   1-18  who meet periodically to make decisions about the school; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Innovative and resourceful, Arnold Leal is an
   1-20  enthusiastic educator who loves his work and is beloved and
   1-21  respected by his students and colleagues; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Mr. Leal's students have greatly benefitted from
   1-23  his skillful teaching methods, his sincere concern for the
    2-1  individual, and his wise counsel and encouragement; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, A talented instructor and leader, Arnold Leal
    2-3  instills in his students a sense of pride and a lifelong love
    2-4  of learning; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Arnold Leal for his superb
    2-7  contributions to the educational system of Texas and extend best
    2-8  wishes to him for many rewarding years ahead; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
